Description
Elmer is 9 year old adult male terrier mix. We adopted him 8 years ago. He is an awesome dog, very loyal, listens well, loves to play fetch (and actually brings the ball back), walks, and snuggles. He is full of life and loves every adult he’s came in contact with. He is house trained, knows basic commands, and is neutered. He is up to date on shots, microchipped, and in really great health. Vets say he has at least 10 more good years due to his breed type.
We are rehoming do to his unpredictable aggression with our toddler and infant. Elmer has anxiety being around crying children and he will show his teeth and growl when they get to close and he has gone through with biting on a few occasions ( no skin was broken). Despite us keeping them as separate and keeping our toddler away it’s not a good situation for Elmer or the kids. He can also aggressive towards other dogs. He has taken fondly to our other dog (lab) but that took months.
For these reasons I recommend a home with no children or pets. Maybe seniors looking for a companion. Or a family with grown children and no pets or experienced pet owners confident on taking on the introduction period that he’d need with other dogs
