Description
I have a beautiful JC Higgins Model 100 (made by AyA) Side by Side Shotgun in 16 Gauge. This gun was produced by AyA for JC Higgins to compete with the newly introduced Winchester Model 21.
Here’s what Shotgun World said about the Model 100 back in 2005:
“The AyA Model 100s were Sear's attempt to market a double gun rivaling the famous Winchester Model 21 at approximately half the price. They were only imported in 1954 and 1955 and sold for $125 in the Wish Book. Today prices range from $300 if the seller doesn't know what they are to about twice that or a bit more. Most were 28" 12 gauge single non selective trigger choked modified and full. 20 and 16 gauges exist, but are scarce.”
This particular gun has a single trigger (14.5” LOP) and is choked modified and full with ejectors. The barrels are rust blued and the receiver has the deep dark bluing which is as good or better than the Model 21. The gun is in great condition mechanically with the heft of the American made double barrels of that time period.
It’s time to start thinning my side by side herd, especially since I rarely shoot anything other than 28 gauges and I’m getting up in years. Thanks for looking.
