Seller's Comments and Description:

FRESH FROM RESTORATION here in Idaho (November 2024) is this Hamilton Model 23 chronograph, Serial Number: P10834 and made in 1945, by a Master Watchmaker and graduate of the famous WOSTEP school in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Chronographs are not easy to restore correctly as you may know; many watch fixers claim to understand them, but do not have the specialized skills and training required (for example, with most vintage chronographs, the minute counter must be adjusted to jump very slightly after 60 seconds indication or an indication error may result! Contact me for a better explaination). This chronograph has been restored right, to the highest standards using modern, state-of-the-art lubricants; all functions of this watch work as precisely as they did back when the watch was new in WWII! Pocket watch database shows that the share of production for this special watch is a measly 0.254% of total. Negatives?: * The dial has scratches of some sort near the 8:00 and 9:00 numerals. Quite possibly this part has been repainted; if so, they got the matte finish almost perfect, as the whole situation isn't too noticable. But on close inspection, a number of indentations and a slight scuff through the 8 numeral are still there. . . * If one looks, they will find very tiny blemishes, mostly on the outside rim of the case. Likewise, the movement has a few minor scuffs as well. Nevertheless, I would still judge this watch as being "better than average" for a Model 23. Note how sharp the winding crown and pushbutton are. . . * This watch is a fine, precision instrument designed for serious use. With the screw-on back, bezel and well-fitting stem, it does contain a modicum of dust-resistance! However, it is NOT waterproof, nor is it shockproof. We take no responsibility for any damage caused by moisture of shock. If you have any questions about this fine watch, please feel free to ask! We buy and sell collectable vintage watches, so if we can help you with this or anything else watch-related, don't hesitate to contact us.
